A normal result of the ageing process is bone deterioration, which can predispose people to osteoporosis (low bone density). Osteoporosis tends to lead to low-impact fragility fractures and is a major cause of hip fractures in the elderly. Other common outcomes are spinal compression fractures and poor posture (due to reduced bone density in the spine) which leads to pain and reduced mobility. This blood test panel checks the levels of minerals required to maintain healthy bones and teeth, as well as checking the levels of key players in their regulation.
