Hepatitis A IgM Antibody
Hepatitis A IgM Antibody
The Hepatitis A IgM antibody test identifies the presence of IgM antibodies in the blood, which are produced during a recent or acute Hepatitis A infection. A positive result indicates a current infection with Hepatitis A, typically associated with symptoms such as jaundice, fatigue, and abdominal pain.
As with any serological test, false positive results are possible and close clinical correlation is needed for the result to be valid. A positive result should be discussed with your doctor and will be notified to Public Health. If positive, your blood may be sent to a reference laboratory for the virus to be genotyped.
