Free testosterone is calculated because it represents the biologically active fraction of circulating testosterone — the part that actually enters cells and drives androgen effects. Total testosterone alone often misleads, especially when SHBG is abnormal.

PSA is tested because it helps identify prostate disease early, especially prostate cancer, prostatitis, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It’s one of the few blood markers that can flag prostate problems before symptoms appear.
