We provide HIV, HBsAg, and syphilis in a single bundle because they are the three key blood‑borne STIs routinely screened together in NZ, share similar transmission risks, run on the same high‑throughput immunoassay platforms, and provide a more complete and clinically meaningful assessment than testing any single infection alone.

The HIV blood test detects antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 as well as HIV p24 antigen.

Hepatitis B Antigen is also known as Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). This test is used to screen for acute or chronic hepatitis B.

The Syphilis test detects antibodies to the bacterium that causes syphilis. Pathlab uses a treponemal antibody screening test (CLIA), sometimes followed by TPHA (also treponemal) and RPR (nontreponemal) tests depending on the screening test result.
