Uric Acid

Also known as urate, uric acid is a waste product formed during the normal process of your body breaking down purines absorbed from the diet. The uric acid is then excreted by the kidneys into the urine. Uric acid may become elevated in the blood due to being over-produced or from not being excreted efficiently by the kidneys. High blood uric acid can lead to a disease called gout.
