Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio (ACR)
Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio (ACR)
An ACR test checks how well your kidneys are working by measuring these two proteins in a urine sample. Albumin is the main protein found in blood, and only a small amount is normally found in the urine. If the kidneys are damaged, more albumin will be lost to the urine. Creatinine is a normal waste product found in the urine.
Measuring creatinine at the same time and reporting the result as an albumin:creatinine ratio is a way of making the test more accurate than measuring albumin alone, because it accounts for changes in urine concentration throughout the day due to fluid intake.
Sample type: Urine
Turn around time: 1 day
